Chapter 1: A Moonlit Encounter
"I never desired this existence," I whisper, evading an incoming arrow.
"But here we find ourselves," Jax responds, ever the jester, even in danger.
Our swords intertwine under the silvery glow of the moon, a deadly performance against our adversaries.
This is our duty: safeguarding secrets that do not belong to us.
"Why are we the chosen ones?" I ponder after the skirmish, searching for comfort amidst the turmoil.
"It selected us," he chuckles, cleaning the blood from his blade.
"Or perhaps we are simply insane."
His laughter, in the face of despair, lightens my load.
Once more, we endure the night.
But as the sun rises, so does our uncertainty. Our secretive duty binds us, but for how long can we withstand this burden?
