A Miraculous Journey: Learning to Swim by the Sea

Chapter 1: A Summer by the Mediterranean
It was a bright summer day by the Mediterranean coast, where the sun illuminated the azure water beneath a vibrant sky. My father insisted that my sisters and I don swimsuits, as we were about to head to the beach.
At just 12 years old and coming from an Asian Muslim background, the thought of wearing a swimsuit made me uneasy. Nevertheless, I complied with my father's wishes, donning a swimsuit beneath a loose dress for easy removal at the beach.
Upon reaching the shore, we encountered numerous foreign families enjoying the sun, many of whom greeted us warmly when they learned our parents planned to teach us how to swim.
While my parents waded into the water, my two younger sisters eagerly splashed around. I, on the other hand, hesitated, feeling embarrassed about exposing my swimsuit. My father noticed my reluctance and shot me a stern look, which compelled me to remove my dress and stride confidently toward the water.
As I dipped my toes into the shallow waves, excitement surged through me with each splash. Despite initial trepidation, we soon settled into the rhythm of the sea, with laughter and joy enveloping us. My father captured these moments on camera as we relished our newfound freedom.
After a morning of fun, we returned home for lunch, reminiscing about the swimming ring we had received as a birthday gift, which we now used to practice floating in the water. For the first four days, Dad guided us in using the ring, demonstrating how to float. Eventually, I gathered the courage to try floating without it, and to my surprise, I succeeded! The feeling of weightlessness was exhilarating.
Reflecting on my past experiences learning to roller skate, I recalled the numerous falls and bruises I endured before mastering that skill. Swimming, however, felt far less daunting.
My sisters watched in awe as I floated effortlessly, and soon they followed suit, achieving their own successes through persistence and determination.
After our initial floating practice, we began to learn swimming strokes, taking turns with the ring. I was the first to swim independently, and it wasn't long before my sisters matched my ability. We had conquered the sea, much to our parents' pride.
Having previously mastered roller skating, our journey to learn swimming felt like a natural progression, especially after moving closer to the ocean. With our newfound abilities, we celebrated the miraculous achievement of swimming with confidence.
In summary, both roller skating and swimming required perseverance, and achieving mastery in these skills felt like a divine blessing. Once learned, these abilities become ingrained, allowing us to revisit them at any point in our lives. Truly, they were gifts from God, enhancing our experiences in sports.
