Title: Engaging with Stories: My Unique Approach to Reading

Written on

Chapter 1: My Reading Process

Before diving into my reading habits, I want to clarify that while I strive to engage with all captivating stories, I know there are many I might miss. If you feel I’ve overlooked one of your remarkable pieces, please leave a comment on any of my stories, and I’ll check it out as soon as I can. Thank you!

Section 1.1: Embracing Change

Medium has updated its Partner Program, reshaping how creators interact and gain visibility:

Section 1.2: My Perspective on the Changes

I view these changes positively as they aim to enhance the quality of the content. In today’s landscape, where AI-generated texts are prevalent, adapting to new norms is essential.

Here’s how I approach each story I read, as I believe this workflow can be beneficial to others:

  1. If a title piques my interest, I open it.
  2. If it’s not a misleading clickbait and appears to offer genuine value, I show my appreciation by clapping. Writing takes effort, and I respect that.
  3. When I come across a quote that resonates with me, I highlight it for future reference.
  4. Finally, I leave comments. If I find the content noteworthy, I express my gratitude and occasionally share my insights if they align with the story.

Section 1.3: The Rationale Behind My Approach

I've structured these actions based on the effort required from the reader’s perspective:

  • Clapping is quick and easy, taking less than a second.
  • Highlighting requires a bit more time, involving two clicks, but it preserves something valuable for later.
  • Commenting demands more effort, yet it fosters community by allowing asynchronous human connection. It also enriches the original author’s work.

What are your thoughts on this process?

How do you feel about the new algorithm? Has it impacted you? Could it be improved, and if so, how? Are there aspects you find lacking?

Thank you for your engagement through clapping, highlighting, and commenting!

Chapter 2: Reflecting on the Process

Section 2.1: A Visual Representation

I appreciate this photo because it encapsulates the entire journey: writers offering value to readers. While the process may not be flawless (like the green tomato), if it nourishes you with valuable insights, every interaction has been worthwhile.

Thank you for taking the time to read (and write)!

I invite you to share your thoughts on my reading process and the steps you follow, if any. 😊

Wishing you all the best!
