Moving to Substack: My Journey and Reasons Behind It

Chapter 1: The Shift to Substack
I'm making the leap to Substack – here's my reasoning behind this decision.
I've become quite fond of this platform, and I admit it wholeheartedly. Countless hours have been spent here, from crafting articles to absorbing insights from fellow writers. This journey has enriched my knowledge, forged valuable connections, and, truth be told, turned into a bit of an obsession. Nevertheless, I'm now ready to embark on a new chapter – Substack.
Why the change?
The catalyst was an unexpected suspension. It felt like a jolt to my system when I was notified that my account had been flagged as spam. Panic set in; was all my hard work and relationships at risk? Fortunately, my account was reinstated, and I was even whitelisted, implying I wouldn't face suspension again. However, this experience left me uneasy. What if the spam filter malfunctioned again? What if other undisclosed triggers led to another suspension? That 'whitelist' hardly feels like a solid assurance.
Another factor is my passion for exploring algorithms. Unfortunately, the M platform isn't particularly receptive to such analyses. Writing about its inner workings often results in limited reach, as these articles are confined to my followers only. I find myself having to use vague language and sidestep topics that truly inspire me.
This brings me to Substack.
I believe Substack will provide me the liberty to write without constraints. I can delve into discussions about the M algorithm openly and share whatever I wish without reservation.
I'm not abandoning M entirely, just becoming less active here. Below are some additional reasons for my transition and why M will still maintain a cherished place in my digital landscape:
Substack fosters a more personal connection between us. While I've enjoyed decent earnings on M, Substack simplifies the creation of paid subscriptions, allowing me to concentrate more on writing and less on marketing – something that doesn't excite me.
On Substack, I have greater control over the aesthetic of my writing environment, which I hope will offer you a more tailored experience.
Nonetheless, M remains dear to my heart. I sincerely value this community. While I will devote more time to Substack, I will still engage with M regularly.
This transition feels organic; many writers have made similar choices before me. I'm genuinely excited about this leap of faith.
Thank you all for making this journey so rewarding. For those interested in further exploring the intricacies of M’s algorithm, I’ll see you on my Substack!
