In a peculiar twist of fate, it seems that I'm the only person inundated with inquiries from potential buyers interested in my house, despite it not being on the market. My business phone rings off the hook with calls, which is all the more surprising since I clearly answer with the name of my company.

The callers are typically excited and eager, often ignoring my greeting. When I explain that they’ve reached a business line, some of them sheepishly apologize before hanging up. In a humorous incident today, while trying to wish one caller "good luck," I mistakenly said "good luck manny," which seemed to deeply offend him. It appears that wherever he was calling from, being called Manny was not taken lightly.

This stealthy voicemail strategy clutters my inbox, making it challenging to manage genuine business communications. Despite my outgoing message requesting that callers refrain from leaving messages, few seem to heed the warning.

Conversing with callers can sometimes be amusing, especially when I'm not preoccupied with work. The reality is that salespeople often utilize clever tactics or new technologies to engage me in business. I find this approach endearing and am typically willing to entertain working with them.

Chapter 2: The Art of Genuine Engagement

The most entertaining calls are often from those who have yet to adapt to modern sales strategies. They can become the highlight of my day. Ultimately, if someone wants to do business with me, the best approach is to introduce themselves and have a straightforward conversation. Deceptive tactics will lead nowhere with me; while others may respond differently, such an approach is a deal-breaker in my book.
